Sleep. What I should be doing instead of writing this review. Oh, well. I digress.
“Sleep” by Bath & BodyWorks is an “aromatherapy” body lotion which claims to creating a calming sensation to help fall asleep faster and easier. An excerpt from the back of the bottle reads: “This ultra-creamy, nourishing body lotion is formulated to give skin long-lasting moisture, while an aromatherapy blend of essential oils soothes and calms so you sleep better and wake more refreshed”.
In all honesty, this product seems a little gimmicky to me. Anytime I use it and feel calming and/or tired, I convince myself it has to be a placebo effect. Bath & BodyWorks also has a “Stress” body lotion, which is suppose to work similarly to this one, as it calms you down, thus eliminating any feelings of stress.
As with almost all of my reviews, I need to comment on the packaging of this lotion. The first notable thing about it is that it is a glass bottle, which I absolutely adore. Glass bottles can oftentimes be a pain because of the risk of dropping them and breaking them. But, this glass is definitely more thick than what you’d imagine when I say “Glass bottle”. I have knocked it over on my side table a fair number of times, and I have yet to break it.
The blue and yellow combination of the bottle work so well together. Along with the slight faded floral design. It is an overall stunningly designed lotion.
The scent of this lotion is lavender chamomile, and oh my, it is one of my favourite smells. The scents of lavender and chamomile are both meant to be calming and relaxing scents used to sooth people, which is why I believe this is targeted as a product to help assist with sleep.
The actual lotion itself has a very smooth consistency and glides onto the skin well. It moisturizes your body very well. One of the claims from the back of the bottle says, it helps you “wake more refreshed”, which, I can agree with. Any time I use this lotion before I go to bed, when I wake up the next morning my skin feels much more refreshed and renewed than it would be if I hadn’t used it.
Despite me being a cynic about how well this helps with sleeping specifically, this is a lovely body lotion overall. It smells beautifully if you like lavender and chamomile. The packaging is very sturdy and well designed. It is a very nice overnight lotion, but I wouldn’t rely on it to properly help you fall asleep.
